There is more to college than just the period of life following high school. It’s where the a whole different world is opened up, and you have so many life choices to make. You need to plan everything out and not just skate through it.
A healthy diet is extremely important during your time at college. Gaining the “freshman 15” isn’t a myth! Monitor what you’re eating. Keep yourself from gorging on convenience foods like burgers and pizza. It may be convenient, but it will leave you feeling sluggish and unable to concentrate in your classes.
Learn about all of the scholarships and grants available to help pay for your education. Many people don’t know that various scholarships have unique characteristics like being only for left-handed people. You can also apply for federal or state grants or even take student loans.
Regardless of your gender, visit the campus gym as frequently as you can. At the gym you can meet new people and stay fit. You can make friends to go to the gym with, and broaden your social circle.
You are now a grown up who must be self sufficient with no one to rely on to take care of you. You should always eat right and get enough rest. Take care of yourself well, study appropriately, attend all your classes and follow a regular schedule. Being too stressed or eating unhealthy foods can cause illness.
Pick classes that you like instead of ones that just seem easy. It is very rewarding to challenge yourself. You can learn and get more from tougher classes. You may even meet people that can help with a career after graduation.
Now, with your new knowledge of the realities of college, it is time to start planning. This represents a part of life about which knowledge is critical in order to get an optimal experience.
