College is more than just something after high school. It’s a new world that opens up many life choices for you. Careful planning goes a long way toward setting yourself up to succeed and thrive.
Take a bottle of water with you to class. Staying hydrated is something you need to do all day long. This is particularly key if you have a few classes one right after the other and lack time to eat. If you drink water, you will be able to stay on top of your classes. This is especially important at schools located in warm climates.
Always maintain a healthy diet. The freshman 15 isn’t an exaggeration. Take great care in monitoring your eating. Stay away from processed foods and fast foods. The foods may be low in cost initially, but these costs add up, and so do the pounds they create.
Study as much as possible each day. The effort you put in your college career will reward you later in life. College is like a full-time job and you may still socialize. Doing great in your classes will ensure that you make more money and have a better job.
Take part in all the activities you can during your college years. When you engage in activities, you’ll hone your interests while having fun. Take on as many activities as you can handle without lowering your grades.
Choose your seat wisely. Instead of sitting in the back, try coming to class early and sitting up front. You’ll be more engaged and can easily ask questions of your professor without having to shout.
You are no longer at home with someone to cook and clean for you. Some indulgences are okay, but still maintain a nutritious diet, get proper sleep, and take care of yourself and your possessions. Create a schedule that balances class time, study time, recreation and rest. Neglecting to fuel your body with nutritious foods can take an enormous toll on your sense of well-being, as can unchecked stress levels.
You should now know a little more about the college experience. It’s best to be informed about college before you start.
